INFORMATION: Danu is used to describe the primeval waters and this deity is probably their embodiment. She is known as the mother of the demonic personality Vrtra, who engages in combat with, and is defeated by, the rain god Indra. In later Hinduism she is perceived as a daughter of Daksa and the consort of Kasyapa.
